Elaine Pagels and Prof. Hal Taussig
Today's Podcast features the October 6, 2005 Union Day addresses by best-selling author and religion scholar Elaine Pagels and Hal Taussig, a popular New Testament professor here at Union Seminary.
This year's Union Day symposium was presented in conjunction with a month-long collaborative art exhibition titled "The Divine Body" on display at three Morningside Heights venues: Union's James Chapel, The Cathedral of St. John the Divine, and the LeRoy Neiman Gallery at Columbia University.
After a brief introduction by Academic Dean Euan Cameron we will hear from Dr. Hal Tausig, who will present an overview of the ways in which non-canonical early Christian text continues to captivate popular imagination.
The presentation by Dr. Pagels will follow reflecting on the question "What is the significance of these lost texts to you, your work, your world?"
